Director of Executive MBA Program
The Department of Business and Economics at Reykjavik University is seeking a strong individual for the position of Director of the Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive MBA) program at the department, in addition to teaching or other tasks at the department. The position offers an opportunity to significantly influence the development of studies at a progressive business and economics department that emphasizes innovation, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and international cooperation. The Executive MBA program is a practical management education designed for managers who want to enhance their leadership skills, become responsible managers, and improve their personal professional skills. The program strengthens connections with the Icelandic labor market and provides current and future managers with tools to excel. Key Tasks and Responsibilities The Director of the Executive MBA program manages and operates the Executive MBA program at the Department of Business and Economics, specifically responsible for: - Marketing, sales, and public relations - Communication with students and faculty - Hiring faculty - Ensuring the quality of teaching and the program as a whole - Program development - Communication with international partners and accreditation bodies - Responsibility for organizing meetings and events - Contracts and planning - Financial oversight and budget planning Additionally, the position involves participation in ad-hoc tasks, such as teaching at the department and, importantly, development projects for the department and the university as a whole. The position is worked in close cooperation with the Dean of the Department and the Executive MBA program's academic council. Education and Qualification Requirements - Master's degree, e.g., MBA, or a doctoral degree in business administration, economics, or related fields. - Experience in management and strategy development, operations, planning, and financial skills. - Leadership skills and excellent communication skills. - Connections with the Icelandic business community are an advantage. - Knowledge and interest in providing excellent service. - Very good English proficiency; Icelandic proficiency is an advantage. - Good organizational skills, initiative, and independence in work. - Experience in university-level teaching is an advantage. - Experience in marketing, sales, and public relations is an advantage. - Knowledge of accreditation processes (e.g., AMBA) is an advantage. - Experience in international cooperation is an advantage.
