Director of Finance and Operations

The Icelandic Meteorological Office plays a key role in enhancing the safety and resilience of society in an ever-changing world. This is founded on efficient operations and continuous improvement. The Icelandic Meteorological Office is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Director of Finance and Operations. The Finance and Operations Department is responsible for financial management, accounting, analysis, and dissemination of information on finance and operations. The department provides support to management and promotes transparency and high-quality information flow within the institution and to government authorities. Furthermore, the department is responsible for the daily operations and internal services of the Meteorological Office, including real estate and work facilities, procurement, security and access matters, document management, reception, and catering. The Director of Finance and Operations leads the activities and development of the Finance and Operations Department and is responsible for financial management, budget planning, and follow-up within the Meteorological Office. We are looking for an individual with strong leadership skills, who is interested in actively participating in a strong management team, taking on diverse and socially important tasks, contributing to success, improvements, and a positive team spirit. The candidate must have the ambition to provide excellent service and ensure responsible and efficient use of public funds. Interest in the subject matter and challenges related to the country's natural forces, climate change, and natural sciences is an advantage.
