Postdoctoral Researcher in Genetic Instability and Cancer Formation
University of Iceland 101 Reykjavik Full-time Posted 5 days ago About the position A full-time postdoctoral position is open for applications for research into the role of MITF in maintaining genomic stability, with a focus on DNA replication and DNA repair. The project is funded for three years by the Icelandic Research Fund (Rannís) and will be conducted at the Life Science Center within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Iceland. The project utilizes a variety of modern methods, including cancer cell culture, gene editing with CRISPR-Cas9, measurements of DNA damage and replication stress (e.g., DNA fiber assays and 53BP1 foci), protein and DNA binding analyses (e.g., CUT&RUN), as well as other molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology methods. Stefán Sigurðsson, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Iceland, will be the supervisor for the project. Main tasks and responsibilities Investigate the role of MITF in DNA replication and DNA damage repair. Analyze how MITF affects the maintenance of genomic stability. Examine the effects of MITF on replication stress and DNA damage response. Research the role of different MITF isoforms in cellular function. Publish and present research results at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed scientific articles. Participate in the daily operation of the research project. Qualifications Doctoral degree in biochemistry, molecular biosciences, or related fields. The applicant must have completed their degree by the start of employment. Experience in scientific laboratory work with biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology methods. Experience working with mammalian cell culture. Good computer skills are desirable.
