Senior Commercial Manager

Verne Global is seeking to hire an experienced individual for the position of Senior Commercial Manager who will lead the commercial, contractual, and financial management of a large-scale data center construction project. The individual will work on-site and the role involves strategic responsibility for procurement, contract administration, cost control, change management, claims, risk management, and project close-out, with the aim of ensuring the client's interests are always prioritized. This is a key role in the project's senior management, offering an opportunity to significantly impact the commercial success and value creation of the data center in a complex and fast-paced project environment. Key tasks and responsibilities: - Overall supervision of the project's commercial management from the procurement process, contract execution, and construction to final close-out. - Manage FIDIC contracts and ensure compliance with contract terms, notification obligations, payment provisions, change processes, and dispute resolution procedures. - Responsibility for change management, variations and additional works, claims, extensions of time requests, and contract negotiations. - Overall supervision of cost control, financial planning, cost forecasting, cash flow, risk management, and reporting. - Support and advise project managers and key stakeholders on costs. - Ensure robust governance regarding contracts, risks, changes, and claims. - Communication and collaboration with lawyers, procurement teams, project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders. - Lead final close-out negotiations and support successful project completion. Education and qualification requirements: - Experience in commercial management, contract administration, or quantity surveying in large projects related to civil engineering, infrastructure, industry, data centers, or other technically demanding projects. - Good knowledge of FIDIC contracts. - Experience in managing extensive work packages related to MEP systems, power infrastructure, backup power, cooling systems, and commissioning. - Very good commercial and financial knowledge, negotiation skills, and ability to communicate with stakeholders. - University degree in business, engineering, law, or related fields. - Professional certifications such as MRICS, MCIOB, PMP, CIArb, AACE, or equivalent are an advantage. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, and leadership abilities. - Initiative, independence, and organized work methods.
