Specialization Positions in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine

Specialization positions for a two-year part-time specialization in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine are open for application. The specialization is provided in cooperation with the Royal College of Anaesthetists in the UK, and the learning outcomes and progress assessment are prepared according to their specifications in accordance with regulation 856/2023. The specialization takes place at Landspítali and at the Akureyri Hospital. The employment fraction is 100% or by agreement. The start date for employment is between January and March 2027, but it is expected that the start date for applicants completing their specialization foundation at Landspítali will be directly following it. If vacation is to be arranged in between, it is done by agreement with the head of specialization training. Friday, February 26, 2027, is the reception day for specialization. See introductory video. Employment fraction: 100% Salary according to the current collective agreement made by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs and the Icelandic Medical Association. Applicants are specifically advised to familiarize themselves with the learning outcomes of the specialization and regulation 856/2023. Doctors who have completed their studies abroad and intend to have their specialization foundation recognized must send a request to the specialization foundation's educational council in Iceland (send to the chair of the educational council, Inga Sif Ólafsdóttir) and receive confirmation that their studies are comparable to the Icelandic specialization foundation year. The selection of applicants will be based on a comprehensive assessment of education, experience, and qualifications, taking into account submitted documents, interviews, and, if applicable, an assessment of skills in case resolution.
