Food & Kitchen jobs in Iceland — what you need to know
Iceland's restaurants, hotels, canteens and food-production companies hire all year round, and many kitchen roles are open to people who don't yet speak Icelandic. Dishwashers (KP), kitchen porters, prep cooks, line cooks, bakers and food-production workers often work in English-speaking or mixed teams — the job is about the work, not the language.
Reykjavík and the tourist hotspots (Vík, Höfn, the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon area) see the biggest demand, especially over the busy summer season, but hotel and institutional kitchens hire year-round. Pay is set by Icelandic collective agreements, and a food-handling attitude, reliability and a willingness to learn count for more than fluent Icelandic.
